About

Welcome to Benito Juarez Elementary!

We are a small and close-knit school nestled into a quiet neighborhood in the heart of Serra Mesa and Mission Village area, overlooking the SDCCU Stadium. Many families choose our school for its excellent programs, our highly trained staff, including bilingual administrative and support staff, and our location handy to workplaces in Mission Valley and Kearny Mesa. All students will participate in our 50/50 Dual Language Program in order to become bilingual, bi-literate, and multicultural learners.

Our small size gives Juarez a comfortable feel that helps students and our parent community feel welcome and valued. Our students' families are very involved in their children's education, helping staff and bringing special programs and events that supplement learning. Our campus features beautiful grounds and athletic fields, because of our special shared parkland agreement with the City of San Diego.

At Juarez Elementary, diversity is valued and celebrated and we attract students from all over the district. Of our approximately 220 pupils, many attend through the School Choice Program, and the rest are neighborhood children. We welcome families to see what Juarez has to offer!

Our school mission-- to strive for excellence in teaching and learning for the success of all students-- complements the district's mission to provide an education that will support students to lead and succeed. Through our instructional program, we are committed to developing all students' abilities to fulfill their potential as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, artists, and athletes. Parents, staff members, and the community work together to create an effective, nurturing, and child-centered learning environment. Through focused, individualized, and small-group instruction, Juarez continues toward the goal of improved student achievement.

We offer free extended learning opportunities before and after school through the YMCA. The Y also provides preschool pre-K instruction, through a fee-based program. Additionally, the YMCA provides extended learning opportunities for our TK-5 students during the free before and after school care program. English learners receive instruction through the Systematic English Language Development Program. All students receive intensive small group literacy instruction through. We house a pre-K for students with special needs (Early Childhood Special Education or ECSE), and our TK-5 students with special needs receive individualized instruction through the Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) program. We also offer fee-based after school activities such as Soccer Shots and Bilingual Kids! Come see what makes Juarez shine!
