🎉 Benito Juárez Day Celebration
Each year, the Benito Juarez Elementary community comes together to honor the legacy of our school’s namesake, President Benito Juárez of Mexico, with a vibrant, day-long celebration. This beloved annual event features:
- Cultural performances by students and community members
- With festive food truck lunch options
- A fun-filled carnival with games and activities
🇲🇽 Honoring a Legacy of Leadership and Learning
Students learn about the remarkable life of Benito Juárez, a Zapotec Indigenous leader who rose from humble beginnings to become a lawyer and eventually the most respected president in Mexican history. A contemporary and friendly correspondent of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln, Juárez is remembered for his dedication to justice, education, and equality.
His famous motto,
“El respeto al derecho ajeno es la paz”
(“Respect for the rights of others is peace”)
is a guiding principle we reinforce with our students every day.
Thanks to the support of our families and community partners, Benito Juárez Day has become a cherished tradition that celebrates culture, history, and school pride.
🏫 A School with History
Benito Juarez Elementary was officially dedicated in the fall of 1962 and has proudly served generations of students in the Serra Mesa and Mission Village communities ever since.
