Cell Phone Policy:

Cell phones and/or smartwatches are not necessary for elementary school. If phones are brought to school, they should not be seen or heard throughout the entire school day. They must be turned off or set to "silent" during the school day and must be left in backpacks or handbags. Students may not keep their cell phones on their persons. Phone calls and text messaging are expressly prohibited during the school day. Students may only call parents during the school day from an office phone. Personal telephones and smartwatches are not to be used between school hours, i.e. between 8:50 a.m. – 3:40 p.m. Any cell phone and/or smartwatch that is used between 8:50 – 3:40 PM or rings during school hours will be confiscated and taken to the office. The cell phone and/or smartwatch will need to be picked up by the parent in person from the principal. We are not responsible for lost or stolen phones or other electronics. Social arrangements need to be made at home.

Theft or loss of such devices will not be investigated by school personnel. Students bring such devices at their own risk. Juarez will not be liable for any thefts. Please see the Cell Phone Policy. Read, sign, and return the affidavit to your child’s teacher. Unauthorized use of these devices disrupts the instructional program and distracts from the learning environment. Repeated unauthorized use of such devices may lead to disciplinary action.

Students and parents are reminded that during an emergency, cellular sites may be overwhelmed due to a high volume of calls. Should this occur, emergency communication could also be affected. Cell phones and other devices must be used sparingly so that emergency services have priority to assist the students and staff on the site.

Electronic Devices:

Electronic devices such as GameBoys, Nintendos, etc. are prohibited. Please do not allow your child to bring electronic devices to school as this can result in damage, loss, or theft.

Toys:

Toys are prohibited. Please do not allow your child to bring toys to school as this can result in damage, loss, or theft. Additionally, trading of toy items is also prohibited.
